Saturday, June 3rd: 23rd Annual Heritage Railway Festival

10:00 am in Historic Downtown Manassas, Cost: $5.00 cash, $6.00 credit card for train excursion tickets

Experience Manassas at its best this June and come out to the 23rd Annual Manassas Heritage Railway Festival. This family celebration of rich railroad history features train memorabilia, specialty vendors, and live performances. Country and blue grass music will transport you, as you watch miniature trains come to life. These elaborate train displays are created by a number of local model train groups. Located under the Harris Pavilion, these displays are a must see.

Visit the canned goods arts sculptures on the Manassas Museum during the festival! All cans will be donated to the food banks to fight hunger.

Saturday, June 3rd: The Gypsy Flea at Belmont Farm Distillary

Modern Flea Market with Vendors, Music, Food and More! 30+ vendors will be offering new, gently-used, recycled and up cycled merchandise.

Saturday, June 10th: The Manassas Color Vibe 5k Run

9:00am-11:00am at Martin K Alloy Boys & Girls Club of Manassas, 9501 Dean Park Lane, Manassas, VA 20110

This 5k chalk race is fun for the whole family! Kids 12 and under run for FREE! A portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the Boys and Girls Club of Manassas.

Wednesday, June 7th: Heroes’ Voice National Poetry Contest Reading

7:30pm, Gregory Family Theater

Cost: Free, Donations accepted to support programming for Veterans, Servicemembers, and their families presented by the Veterans and the Arts Initiative.

Join us for The Soldier’s Journey, an evening of music and poetry exploring a variety of perspectives on war, peace, and the soldier’s experience.*  The evening will feature extraordinary selections of live music and poetry, followed by a reception.

These performances are the culminating events of the Heroes’ Voices National Veterans Poetry Contest, a cooperative venture between Heroes’ Voices in San Francisco, CA and George Mason University in Manassas, VA. The four winning poems, selected from hundreds of entries received from Veterans across America, will be featured at both events, along with other selected poetry.

Previously known as the Manassas Wine & Jazz Festival, this year’s Manassas Jazz Festival is expanding to include wine, beer, and spirits – something for everyone to enjoy!

Saturday, June 24th: “Oklahoma” Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre – Winchester, VA

Cost: $65.00 per person **Cost Subsidized by Bluebird Committee, as a part of their “Trips for the Over 55” Bluebird Tours Catalog**

Chicks and ducks and geese better scurry, because here comes Oklahoma! The classes Rodgers and Hammerstein musical full of rivalry and romance in a turn-of-the-century territory on the Brik of statehood. We will depart Woodbridge at 9:30am and Manassas at 10:15am. Return time is approximately 6:30pm. Lunch is included at the Cracker Barrel in Winchester. The show will be playing from June 22 – July 2.

Tuesday, June 27th: The Science of Sound

11:00am & 12:30pm, Merchant Hall – Hylton Performing Arts Center, Cost: Adults $15.00, Children $5.00

Come hear and “see” what sound is all about! Sound waves become visible in this exciting performance that uses technology to transform sound into a multisensory experience. Caryn Lin uses her five-string electric violin, loop recorder, oscilloscope (a device that displays electronic signals and waveforms), and other special effect tools to create amazing soundscapes.
