Hollywood Special Effects Show

Feb 3, 2018
2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Location
Hylton PAC
10960 George Mason Circle
Manassas, VA

Live on stage, this show gives illuminating insights into the world of special effects that are usually confined to movie theaters and television screens — taking families on an exciting journey that will let them feel the heat of an inferno, marvel at fantastical sci-fi monsters, and be blown away by huge explosions! Think Mythbusters meets Universal Studios as the show demonstrates the science and secrets of creating movie magic.

The British media (Henley Times) called it an “extravaganza of pyrotechnics,” and that “we were on the edge of our seats with anticipation and were repeatedly rewarded.” The Scunthorpe Telegraph claims “Movie magic and screen secrets came to life in the Hollywood Special Effects Show,” and “The kids clearly love the action. I would recommend this show for families and anyone with a child interested in film.”

Producer Alex Jarrett is quoted saying “Having developed the show over 2 years of touring the UK it’s exciting to bring it home with some incredible special effects and ‘Jurassic’ size surprises. The show’s aimed at kids 5 to 15 but there really is something for everyone”

A theatrical experience like no other — The Hollywood Special Effects Show: Dangerously Exciting.

Tickets are available at HyltonCenter.org or by calling 703-993-7759. Show hours are 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, and tickets start at $15 for adults and $4 for children.

Prince William County Ducks Unlimited 40th Annual Banquet and Conservation Fundraiser

Feb 23, 2018
5:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Location
Virginia Portugues Community Club
9509 Lee Avenue
Manassas, VA20110

Through its fundraising work, and through its Annual Banquet and Conservation Fundraiser, the Prince William County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited (DU) has raised thousands of dollars for wildlife and habitat conservation.

Northern Virginia has benefitted from this work receiving funding for two wetland protection projects, 58 wetland enhancement and restoration projects, two upland protection programs and 55 upland enhancement and restoration projects. In addition, DU funding in Virginia has protected and preserved 8,659 acres and restored or enhanced over 30,000 acres of endangered wildlife and waterfowl habitat.

Since its founding in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved over 11 million acres of critical wildlife habitat across North America. Wetlands are nature’s most productive ecosystems, but America has lost more than half of its original wetlands and continues to lose more than 80,000 acres every year. Approximately 87% of Ducks Unlimited expenditures were converted directly into habitat conservation work.
