As a long-time resident, Ellis raised 6 daughters and 1 son (2 U.S. Air Force Vets) with her husband George. Ellis is a successful small business owner for 30 years with a background in healthcare, finance, communication, management, and marketing. She opened and operates Tackle Management and Marketing and is an owner and Director of SFMC Inc. with her husband.

As a volunteer leader, Ellis is an American Red Cross Chair, who started a campaign to rally donors to overcome the severe blood shortage during the height of the pandemic, and recruited large spaces to reach an over-capacity level of blood to save lives.

Human Trafficking is a national crisis. Ellis brings awareness of this horrific problem impacting mostly women and children in the local community. As a Councilwoman, she recently led with a proclamation to end Human Trafficking along with her fellow Rotary District members. As a member of Rotary, she also started the annual Flags for Heroes display during Veterans Week to benefit the Warrior Retreat of Bull Run for our wounded vets.

She is an experienced decision-maker for solutions to overcome the challenges and hardships that face our families, businesses, education, organizations, and community.

“During my first term, I was elected and served before, during, and now in recovery from the pandemic. I set up and continued my “Shadow for a Day” mentorship and volunteer relief programs, worked with the Inter-Faith Council, and added English/Spanish messaging to educate all of our residents and small businesses about available resources,” said Ellis.

As a beekeeper and trained master gardener, Ellis is also a champion for saving the pollinators. She worked to win unanimous support for Manassas to be designated as a Bee City USA and as a patron, launched the popular annual Manassas Bee Festival (next: June 24, 2022), with a working apiary at Liberia House that produces honey for the event.

“There’s so much more work to do! I am grateful to serve four more years to help us continue to thrive together. And as I promised, I will fight hard and now across the aisle every meeting, to keep taxes and spending down and for fiscal responsibility,” said Ellis.

As a Business Communication graduate of George Mason University, she was awarded, ”Alumna of the Year,” in 2019 for her work in education connecting students with businesses and organizations for internships and jobs.

“Excellence in education is absolutely necessary for our children to compete in their future world stage,” Ellis said.
